THIS WEEK
Born in Scotland twenty years ago and now living in the South of England, Will McNicol began his classical guitar training at the age of seven and currently holds two diplomas in classical guitar recital with Trinity College London. He started composing five years ago and has since developed a unique style of his own, combining acoustic tapping and slapping techniques with the more conventional classical approach. He has performed spell-binding sets supporting a variety of artists from the folk legend Martin Simpson to the indie stylings of Kid Harpoon. Will's latest album, Skyscape, is a celebration of the diversity of the guitar. It takes inspiration everywhere from the enchanting landscapes of Spain to the more local, but no less beautiful Plymouth Hoe.
"This classically trained guitarist treats his guitar the way a horny thirteen-year-old treats his body."
